'Book of Daniel'
Dan 9:23-24 At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved; therefore consider the matter, and understand the vision: "Seventy weeks are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sins, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the Most Holy."
God will require seventy weeks (70 X 7 = 490 years) to complete His work with the Israelites, which will fulfill the following:-
1. To finish transgression
There will no longer be any more laws to fulfill.
2. End of sins
The Israelites will no longer commit any sin for they will all come under the rule by our Lord.
3. Reconciliation of iniquity
All their sins, transgressions and iniquities will be forgiven.
4. Everlasting righteousness
The Israelites will all become Christians with His righteousness.
5. Seal up all vision
All visions of Israel will be fulfilled for the kingdom of Christ will be on earth then.
6. Fulfill all prophecies
Similarly, all prophecies concerning the Israelites will also all be fulfilled.
7. Anoint the Most Holy
For they all will accept our Lord Jesus as their Messiah.
Rev 11:15 Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!"
The fulfillment of all the above will be at the establishment of the kingdom of Christ or the Millennium Rule of our Lord Jesus on earth.
Command to rebuilt Jerusalem
Daniel 9:25 "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty- two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times."
From King's Cyrus command to rebuild and restore Jerusalem till its completion will be seven weeks or 7 X 7 = 49 years. From the completion of the walls of Jerusalem to the Messiah will be 62 weeks or 62 X 7 = 434 years.
Death of the Messiah
Dan 9:26a "And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself;"
Had the Jews believed the book of Daniel, they would have realized that they had crucified their Messiah at exactly 69 weeks after King Cyrus command to rebuild Jerusalem as prophesied by Daniel. Then all the Jews would have accepted our Lord Jesus as their Messiah, had it not been for the deceptions of the misled priesthood, Pharisees and Jewish leaders.
They too would have realized that their Messiah was afflicted for their infirmities, and He was crucified as the sacrificial Lamb of God for their transgressions or sins (Messiah shall be cut off, not for Himself but for the sins of the world).
Unfortunately, none of these blind, covetous and powerful priesthood and Jewish leaders were able to warn the Jews of the season of the coming of the Messiah (who will declare His generation?), except for a few, including Zachariah the priest, John the Baptist, etc.
Isa 53:7-8 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment, and who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgressions of My people He was stricken.
