‘Book of Daniel’
Death of Messiah
Dan 9:25-26a “Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the command to restore and build Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince, there shall be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublesome times. And after the sixty-two weeks Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself”
Daniel prophesied that the Messiah will be killed (cut off) after the sixty-two week for the sake of the salvation of others (but not for Himself).
At exactly 483 years after the command of King Cyrus, the wicked Priesthood crucified their sinless Messiah, thereby ending the Old Covenant and making it their great and dreadful day of the Lord.
At the same time, the crucified Christ started the new Covenant by becoming men's redemption.
Mal 4:5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
The Great and Dreadful day of the Lord
Mat 27:50-51 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,
At the death of Jesus, God tore the veil into two when He abandoned the temple, thereby making the Old Covenant (Judaism) obsolete. From then onwards Jews were cut off as the people of God.
The death of Jesus on the cross established the new covenant of His blood. God gives every Christian the Holy Spirit of redemption and the previlige to be called children of God.
Heb 9:16 For where there is a testament, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
Coming of Elijah
Mal 4:6 "And he (Elijah) will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”
Before that dreadful day, when the wicked Jews would no longer be the people of God, Elijah must come back to turn the hearts of the children to their fathers and ready to believe God.
Most of the priesthood knew of the special birth of John the Baptist (or Elijah) whose birth preceded that of their Messiah.
Luke 1:13a, 16-17 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias... And he (John the Baptist) will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
John 1:23 He said: “I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the Lord,” ’ as the prophet Isaiah said.”
Though John the Baptist was not aware that he has the spirit of Elijah, yet he continued his ministry of bringing the Jews back to God by repentance and water baptism. Many Jews and Jewish leaders, who believed him were baptized.
Our Lord reiterated that John the Baptist was Elijah. After his death, our Lord Jesus and His disciples continued his ministry by preaching 'Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand' and baptized the repented.
Mat 11:13-14 “For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come.”
Thousands of Jews were saved
Acts 2:38,41 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit... Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.
Similarly, if Christians repent of their sins (heresies, covetousness, lies, heaping up treasures in the last days, carnality, worldly, homosexuality, abominable practices, etc.) and start keeping the commands and words of Jesus, then when World War 3 starts, they will be saved under God's protection.
